St Peter’s School provides a first-class education to approximately 1,200 students, including a co-educational boarding community of around 350 students from New Zealand and around the world.

The Opportunity
As Deputy Principal — Curriculum & Assessment Design, you will provide strategic leadership across curriculum, teaching, learning, reporting and assessment.
You will ensure St Peter’s academic programmes remain future-focused, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of every learner, while championing excellence in teaching and learning across the School.
Working collaboratively with academic leaders and teachers, you will strengthen professional practice, develop leadership capability and use evidence and achievement data to drive continuous improvement.
The role extends beyond academic leadership, contributing to the School's broader strategic direction, pastoral framework, student wellbeing, operational excellence and the vibrant life of its boarding and day-school communities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the strategic development, implementation and review of curriculum and teaching programmes.
- Drive excellence in reporting, assessment, qualifications management and student achievement.
- Strengthen data-informed approaches to teaching, learning and student progress.
- Lead school-wide assessment and qualification frameworks, ensuring alignment with relevant NZQA requirements.
- Coach and mentor academic leaders and teachers to strengthen pedagogy and professional growth.
- Build leadership capability across faculties and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Champion culturally responsive teaching and learning, including the incorporation of m?tauranga M?ori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Support student wellbeing and promote a positive, inclusive and equitable school culture.
- Provide leadership across academic systems, reporting and operational processes.
- Build strong and positive relationships with students, parents, wh?nau and the wider School community.
- Contribute to the School's strategic priorities and the broader life of the boarding and day-school community.
- Provide leadership and support across the School as required.
